Device

The device is attached to the reindeer’s ear following the instructions provided with the compatible applicator.

The Rudolf device operates for 4-5 years depending on conditions or until it reports the death of the reindeer. In order to function the device requires an active subscription, which is purchased one year at a time.
When the Rudolf device detects that a reindeer has died or its health has deteriorated significantly, you will receive a notification within hours in the Anicare mobile application.
Currently no. The device transmits location data once a week, which ensures a long, up to five year operating life. Location data and battery charge are updated in the application every Sunday at 12 pm.
No. The battery lasts for the duration of the device’s operating life, so under normal conditions up to five years and is therefore maintenance-free. The device is recycled with normal electronic waste.
The NB-IoT network operates using the major telecommunication companies’ mobile phone networks, but utilises a different part of the network than mobile phones. This enables longer wavelengths and up to 7 times the coverage of the normal mobile phone and 2G networks.
The device is specific to an individual reindeer and following activation cannot be transferred to another animal. When the device has detected and reported a deceased animal, it is no longer active and cannot be reactivated.
The firmware of devices activated via Anciare Oy is updated remotely as required. Notification of the software update occurs via the Anicare mobile application. The notification includes information about the changes made and the update does not require any action from the user.
No. The subscription fee is always the same. Unfortunately the device is not able to utilise foreign networks, however thanks to the broad coverage the devices function well beyond Finland’s borders.
The device may be momentarily in a location with poor coverage. If the device has not reported its location and the battery charge within the last month, we request that you contact our customer service at rudolf@anicare.fi. Attach to your message the serial number of your device, the most recent date that the device has reported data and to whose Anicare user account the device is registered.

Subscription

n order for the device to connect to the Anicare application, the application must contain as many unused subscriptions as nonactivated devices. A subscription is a prerequisite for device operation. One subscription is valid for one (1) year from the date of purchase for the Anicare application user recorded in the transaction (email address). One subscription can be used to activate one device. The Anicare application sends a reminder about outdated subscriptions.

The subscriptions are purchased from the Anicare online store. During the payment process you are asked for your Anicare application user name (email address). When purchasing your subscription you do not need to have already created your Anicare application user account, but you should use the same email address you provided at the point of purchase to create your Anicare user account.

The subscription does not need to be activated separately. When you have purchased the subscription from the Anicare online store using your own Anicare user name (email address), it is automatically connected to the application via your user name.

To guarantee the operation of all devices in the future as well, the subscriptions must be renewed before they expire. The application repeatedly notifies about expiring subscriptions one month before their expiry date. If a subscription expires and the application contains more connected devices than subscriptions, you will need to select which device you will permanently deactivate. You can also deactivate a device before the subscription expires, in which case the application will no longer notify you about expiring subscriptions. NOTE! Deactivated devices can not be reactivated.

Subscriptions are not device specific. If there are unused subscriptions in your application, you can connect any nonactivated Rudolf device. One device uses up one subscription.
No it is not. The subscriptions are not device-specific, but the device requires a subscription in order to function. When a device sends an alert about the death of an animal, it is removed from the list of active devices and the remaining subscription time can be allocated to a new device.
