Nanotrack – Location device can produce up to 1200 location data points and with a low positioning frequency, the lifespan of a single device can be over 5 years.
The continuous positioning frequency can be changed by the user from the user interface to 7 days, 24 hours, 12 hours, 6 hours, or 2 hours positioning frequency.
The default positioning frequency of the devices can be set at the time of ordering, and in the basic mode, it is 7 days.
By default, the mortality indicator is turned off in the devices, but it can be activated at the customer’s request. The mortality indicator sends location information and an alert about the animal’s death within 3 hours of death to the mobile application and email.

Nanotrack – Location device uses Mobile IoT networks (LTE-M/NB-IoT), which operate in the mobile network infrastructure but are technologically more capable in terms of coverage and power management.
Regarding coverage, LTE-M/NB-IoT networks with Nanotrack devices achieve a communication distance of up to 50km from the base station, while mobile phones have a range of <15km.
This means that the devices also work in remote areas where there is no mobile phone coverage.
The device is not reusable, and the user cannot replace the battery.
We will refund you for the device you used when ordering new devices.
NanoTrack device installation takes only a few seconds with compatible pliers, and commissioning is easy:
- Slide the device into the pliers from the side just before installation.
- Ensure the red light is flashing, indicating the device has started. If the light does not flash, try placing the device in the pliers again.
- Remove the ID card and keep it safe; this device will be added to the application later. Your notes on the card can make identifying individual animals in the application easier.
- Install the device in the animal’s ear as soon as possible after startup.
- The device must be added to the application using the ID card’s QR code or serial number within the next 48 hours after installation, depending on the environment in which the device is installed.
- Once the device is connected to the application, you can add animal information, see locations on a map and select the positioning frequency for the device.
Fast installation significantly reduces the working time required with animals and increases safety for both researchers and animals.
Attaching the device to the ear has proven to be a widely functioning solution in the Nordic reindeer industry. In the ear, the device has optimal conditions for accurate positioning and using the IoT network.
NanoTrack devices are connected to the free Anicare app, which manages and monitors device operation. Coordinates with timestamps can be delivered in CSV format by customer service with serial numbers and user information.
